A meeting with Dr. Bala Natarajan(KANSAS-STATE UNIVERSITY)

Hello friends today I met with my co supervisor Dr. Bala Natarajan (Kansas-state  University, US). We have a discussion about the research for more than hour. He gave us guidance for research work out of his experience. I felt it should be reached to all of us because we have started moving on the path of research. He was happy with the decision of our chancellor to have collaborative work with foreign universities as it will increase the quality of research work. I have tried to grasp his thoughts and whatever I captured has kept in this blog. Following are the main points of our discussion.

• Research is to add value to a specific area
• Selecting right problem is very important. In his view 80% effort is require selecting the right task and 20% effort will be in doing task.
• Research is like digging the earth to find water. Don’t search for water in such a place where lots of people are already searching and many have found sufficient water out there. Make your own place, where people can say its <<your name>>’s place.
• Following could not be research of ph.D. scholar
• Picking problem of others, add some your thoughts in it to improve little.
• Simulating and checking results of other persons research work
• Start solving the problem where you know the probable result of your analysis
• Core skills are very important. All basics of fields should be clear in mind. Mathematical, statistical and optimization skills are necessary. Spare time, go for classes and take exams to check your level.
• Work on your own idea, prepare model, do mathematical analysis and observe results.

Train condition while comming from ahmedabad

today i went for phd interview at ahmedabad. some good experience i had today. as i wanted to enjoy ahmedabad food, i had lochoo. which is famous at surat. but the lochho here is also seems quit good ;)
   by the way i wanted to talk about the train. the situation in train is really worst. when there is a rush to get seat. i found some people were inside the coach before waiting for us to come inside. they took 10 ruppe for each seat. nobody is speaking against him. it is really a bad experience :(
here i have capture the photo from inside. people are making too much noise but i am enjoying on my pad:)

Mobile application idea.........

I am thinking of a mobile application which may be useful for many people.
In mobile we have facility to make in silent mode, vibration mode and ringing mode.
When we are in meeting or somewhere where mobile ring creates problem, so we keep it in either vibrate mode or in silent mode. But there are some contacts in our phones which are very much important, and atleast acknowledgement of their calling should be available wherever and in whatever condition we are. So there should be a facility to set silent mode and vibrate mode contactwise. for example when my mobile is in complete silent mode, but will be vibrated when my friend Kalpesh is calling... so in meeting also i can come to know that kalpesh is calling :)
I should be able to set different types of vibration mode for different contacts.


Hope some one will work on this idea and will prepare a mobile application to allow this features. Comment it if you like this idea :)

Rofel bca lab works.......

Here at rofel, students used to seat after the college hours for practicing more in practical subject. Here i captured the photo of lab.



The effort is from both the end, faculties are working more than college hours willingly. This is not for the current year, it is a tradition since long. Course like BCA requires more time for practice, and here people do it by interest. Faculties are also seating without thinking of salary :).

Such case should be observe by trustees or higher authorities of the ROTARY club, and means of appreciation should be given. Here i am posting this blog and hope that some one will observe it and appreciate it.

Thought of College Mgt System

Being an IT person, working in academics fields, doing everything on manual paper seems not good. We should have a good computerized automated system by which most of the tasks can be automated and repetition and redundancy is avoided. Lots of things we are working for and just either misplaced or working again because we have lost the earlier copy. There should be a central database that manages everything.

Here are some points which can be automated

1. Documents:

         Documents like letters, question papers, legal documents recieved from university, documents send to some students, documents send to other colleges , Attendance reports, G.R. Reports, Students leave notes, medical certificates, other legal certificates, Circulars of colleges, university circulars, Exam papers, Marks list, Faculty information papers, Student project works, event reports...

         Above all documents should be maintain in proper way. Like when it is created, who gave, to whome we sent, on which date. and the access to this documents should be at one click( within no time :) ).

2. Student Mgt.

       Student info should be managed at one central database, so any modification if any can be done at one place.

       when some student arises in front of faculty or principal, system should give all his previous records with a one click.starting from students general information to his academic info, report about his previous exams, his attendance,, everything :)

       Attendance should be manage in such a way that, when a lecture over immediately it should be updated to the system so principal located physically anywhere, can see the about the particular student, whether he was present in the last lecture or not,  this info should be kept on internet site also, so parents can also see, whether his son or daughter has attended 3rd or 4rth lecture in the class :)

3. Faculty Mgt.

       A todo list from principal should be reach to each faculty everyday, if time table changed , should be informed by the means of sms or something to the faculty. any msg to be transfer to faculty by anybody can be don within some clicks of system :). 

      A syllabus tracker can be implemented to track each lecturers portion completion. principal should see the status without asking to anybody from the system on a single click :)
